In the late 1970's my daughter Amy suggested that she and I see a movie called Eraserhead. This was a memorable experience that both of us never forget. We still talk about once in awhile.
Eraserheard was a surrealist movie that, to me, was totally incomprehensible. Just objects on the screen doing their thing without rhyme or reason. Two hours of headache producing images.
This movie, the second of a package of movies Sandy and I will see this semester at Florida Atlantic University fits into the same category as Eraserhead. Just objects on the screen doing their thing without rhyme or reason. Two hours of headache producing images.
Netflix calls this movie a "surrealistic satire".
Dictionary.com defines surreal as:
" having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic"
Dictionary.com also defines satire as:
"a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and
vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule."
Can you imagine trying to understand what hallucinatory actions on a
screen are trying to ridicule? And then having the instructor call it
a comedy.
It is utter nonsense and idiotic folly to continue to discuss this film.
