Foreign: Subtitles
This very sensitive and touching movie was made in China. As with
many other modern day films from that country, it describes and deals
with the life of every day people. As everyone well knows, most
Chinese people are extremely poor by our standards, One of the
wonderful aspects of these movies is that they show how you can be
happy, sad, get angry, become frightened, love a child and the have
the other full range of human emotions without having all the
so-called conveniences of modern day American life.
This movie deals primarily with the interrelationships of children and
adults and other aspects of Chinese culture in the 1970's. From the
travelogue aspect it also shows how Chinese people live together in
the communal setting of a small neighborhood. The acting and general
production aspects of the film were excellent.
