THE SUM OF ALL FEARS (2002) B-

Good action-adventure movie based on the novel by Tom Clancy. The film shows what could happen in a world awash with weapons of mass destruction and political leaders who act with limited information.

Down rated to B- because the technical and political aspects of the movie had massive holes. First, a nuke carried by and Israeli aircraft is downed and no one goes out to look for it. In the real world the US built special submarines to retrieve nukes that dropped into the Mediterranean off the coast of Spain.

Second, some very small group of neo-Nazi guys arrange to blow up this lost nuke in the United States to create conflict between Russia and the US. . . . so that they can take over the world. Even people who think Muslims are attempting to conquer the world wouldn't buy this.

Third. How the nuke gets from the middle east to the Ukraine and then to Baltimore via Haifa is deep a mystery. In addition, the capability of a few guys in the CIA to determine who is plotting was far fetched.

Otherwise it was better that a video game.
