DocumentaryExcellent light documentary that takes us through the story of a
trailer park resident Teri Horton who buys a painting for about $5 and discovers it may be a Jackson Pollack original.
Through her adventures we are introduced to the art "establishment" that lives in the world where painting are mostly sold in accordance with the Greater Fool Theory*. Lots of fun including meeting people in the trailer park world, the art authentication world and with Thomas Hoving, a pompous jerk who was director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for many years. After you see the movie you can choose which
world you would rather hang out in.
*A theory that states it is possible to make money by buying a item of no inherent value, such as a big diamond, a painting produced by an ape, or a tulip, and later selling it at a profit because there will
always be someone (a bigger or greater fool) who is willing to pay a
higher price.
