THE PIANO IN A FACTORY (2011) C-

Foreign; Chinese, Subtitles

A weak, hard to follow story, about a man living in a poverty stricken part of China, who wants to obtain a piano for his daughter. Lacks real emotional relationships between the players, and lacks any discussion of ways his quest for a piano could be met. Poor editing resulted in rapid changes in scenes which required you to try to continually figure out what the story was about. If you are interested in seeing the underside of China's economy . . . this is for you.

From Netflix: A humble factory worker (Wang Qian-Yuan) who moonlights as a musician summons every shred of creativity he has when his estranged wife (Shin-yeong Jang) resurfaces and demands custody of their young daughter, who says she'll live with whomever can give her a piano. With no money to buy the instrument for her, the desperate father tries to grant her wish by building the piano out of discarded scraps.
