A ROYAL AFFAIR (2012) A

Foreign, Danish; subtitles

The year is about 1750.  Monarchies still have a dictatorial hold on the people in Europe, however, liberal Enlightenment thinking is in the air . . . and is being  spread by the hero of our movie.
This movie supposed to be the true story of a Danish King's doctor (the hero), who starts a revolution in Denmark that liberalizes and frees the people.

Superimposed on the film is a romantic love triangle between the mentally unbalanced  King Christian VII, our royal physician and the young but strong Queen Caroline Mathilda.
Costuming, acting, cinematography, and acting all excellent.  Women will like the movie more than men.
