Worth watching if you are interested in the history of TV, and was also attracted to Johnny Carson or his late night show. It ran on NBC for 30 years. 30 YEARS . . . that's a long time for a TV program.
This 3 hour special reviews Carson's childhood and early career to his takeover of the LATENIGHT TV SHOW from Jack Parr.
I was particularly interested in his personality problems . . . his aloofness from his audience and as well as people around in his social world. He had problems probably because his mother rejected him as a child as well as an adult. FOR ALL HIS FAME AND FORTUNE, HE WAS NOT A HAPPY GUY. He buried a lot of emotional pain in work and drinking.
