Movie Review: ALL IS LOST (2013) D-

Terrible Movie. I'm not really sure if this was a real movie or just a showcase for the machismo of Robert Redford. The critics that respond to Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 93% rating and the lay people rated it 65%. I can only believe that the critics were "kissing-up" to the power of Redford in the movie industry.

The movie was about a man (we know nothing about) stranded in a 28 foot sail boat, 1500 miles off the coast of Indonesia, in the Pacific. The key failure of the movie was to show him attempting to sail this vast ocean without the proper back-up equipment. Just dumb. So he runs into a typical storm and the boat gets damaged and sinks. He is then left in an under-equipped life raft. Real stupid planning for sailing the Pacific. Stupid, stupid, stupid. PS. it can be considered a silent film because there was no dialog.

THIS MOVIE MUST BE MISSED.

Warren is retired and lives in Florida where he runs a foreign movie program for adults. He subscribes to NETFLIX and uses Rotten Tomatoes as one of the sources for selecting movies to review.

Started watching movies at about eight years old and was strongly influenced by "Fantasia" for it's combination of music and fantasy. He was profoundly impacted in his early teen years by the social content in "I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG".

As a kid he used to enter the movie house in the middle of a double feature and leave when the movie reached the part where he came in. Loved serials and was able to see most double features for ten or twenty-five cents.

A graduate of Columbia University and City College of New York (CCNY), he strongly believes that good movies . . . with mature content . . . are a significant supplement to education and insight into the world around us. No egghead, he also believes that "It's A Wonderful Life", "Young Frankenstein", "The Producers", West Side Story", and "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers" are great films.
