Movie Review: AMERICAN SNIPER (2015) AAA

This film is one of my 100 best movies of all time.   It is a multi faceted, morally complex and utterly gripping story of what war can do to the men who fight it.

On the surface it deals with the true story of Chris Kyle  a rodeo-riding Texas good ol’ boy who signed up the day that he saw The Twin Towers burn to the ground. Chasing the most intense type of action offered, he joined The Navy Seals, and eventually gained military fame as a sniper, clocking up 150 registered kills, and saving the lives of thousands of US soldiers in the process.

Below the surface is the bigger question of the justification for the war, the political wimps that approved it, the all volunteer army that gathers the likes of Kyle and sends them to do the ugly and horrid killing . . . while most of the more savvy people work on Wall Street, or in the medical and retail fields, earning a living and never caring about the less sophisticated grunts we send to Iran and Vietnam.

The film has raised all sorts of discussions, and controversy . . . which is why it among my 100 best movies.  To read more I suggest Wikipedia or:
