TV Series Review: PEAKY BLINDERS (2014) B Season 1

Available on Netflix

Peaky Blinders is an gangster drama set in the lawless streets of post-war Birmingham, England . . . in the early 1920s.  Watchable but slow at times.  Settings are excellent.  Depicts the conditions people lived in during those post WWI times.  Not pretty.

It's a lot different from what most of us are used to as a gangster film.  A cross between an Edward G Robinson/Humphrey Bogart film of the 1930's and the Sopranos.

The story centers on the historic PEAKY BLINDERS gang and their ambitious and highly dangerous charismatic boss Tommy Shelby. The gang comes to the attention of Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, a detective in the sent over from Belfast (in Ireland) where he'd been sent to clean up the city of the IRA.
Gambling, women, fist fights and mayhem with the taste of gentlemen gangsters.  Worth a try if you are into gangster movies.
If you like it, more episodes are available
