Twenty or so years ago I gave this film an A+. Times have changed and so have I. This movie by Oliver Stone, is about a young stockbroker who falls under the spell of Gordon Gekko, an unabashedly greedy Wall Street wheeler and dealer. ("Greed is good")
Michel Douglas as Gekko is a wise guy who graduated from CCNY and wants to show everyone how smart he is. Unfortunately, his personality does not fit the winners on Wall Street these days. The winners today are soft talking blue suitors who have been promoted to positions well beyond there mental and emotional capability. They are generally stupid analytically, but can pull down salaries of hundreds of millions of dollars. Alan Greenspan is a wonderful example of this sort of stupidity. He still cannot understand how the leaders of mortgage selling, packaging and lending could enter into deals that were not in their best interest. (He recently said this before Congress. He didn't remember "Greed is good"). I think he recently stepped off a rocket ship from Mars with Ayn Ryand.
