A wonderful, sensitive motion picture that transports you into peasant life in China in the 1930's. With few changes this was probably life in China for hundreds of years before the 30's. Their lifestyle, love for family, treating girls as chattel, eking out a living in good times, and just barely surviving in bad times. You will see this and more.The story is about a street performer who displays the art of mask magic -- and wants to pass this on to the next generation.
Acting is beyond sensational . . . especially the acting by an 8 year old girl. Bring plenty of tissues when you see this film
China now is out producing the US in cars. I expect that soon they will be also supplying us with many movies.
