THE YEAR MY PARENTS WENT ON VACATION (2008) C

The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (O Ano em Que Meus Pais Saíram de Férias)Foreign: Subtitles

Dreadfully slow, sometimes boring and depressing movie about a boy
who's parents leave him in the middle of a Brazilian City in the early
1970's with minimal support. Part of the movie very weakly attempts
to show the boys parents, and others, running from dictatorial
political forces that run the country.

No details about the dictatorship or a revolutionary plot is provided for either us or the boy. The movie just plods along with the boy awaiting the return of his parents interposed with World Cup soccer fever in Brazil.

Years ago, (1982), in a movie called Missing, with Sissy Spacek and
Jack Lemmon, South American political issues was dealt with in a much superior manner. In this movie all we get is a weak mix of unclear
politics and the sad life of a young abandoned kid.

Don't waste your time watching this one.
