65 to 70 year old Ben Kingsley has an affair (and is also obsessed) with a beautiful 25 year old young women. He is a lonely professor at Columbia and she is his student. They both fall madly in love (like teenagers) . . . and because he can't (and never could ) come close emotionally to any one, the relationship breaks up with terrible regrets on both sides. We never find out what she sees in this relatively unattractive guy who is at least 40 years older than her . . . except that she adores him because he sees her as a beautiful sex object.
We also never find out why he can't get close to anyone, including his son that shows up in the movie. We also never get any insight into what he sees in her other than her sexual attractiveness. They never really have a conversation and never talk about mutual interests except maybe trivial talk about visiting Italy together for an exciting new place to have sex.
I thought it was worth seeing if the movie house charges $5 or less. Sandy thought it was a male fantasy movie and a waste of time.
