This movie succeeds at being a realistic western where people talk in "1880's western talk". . . three word sentences. They also live in a socio-economic atmosphere where survival of the fittest reigns supreme. So what we hear in the way of dialogue is mostly grunts . . . and what we see are un-thought-out actions between people. Therefore, if you see this film don't expect too much of a touchy-feely screenplay. To add to this built-in problem, the screenplay is poor, does not create any tension and drags in many places. In fact I thought the movie ended at one point, but to my surprise it continued.
The one redeeming aspect of the film is the magnificent scenery in New Mexico, and the sets that show how the West may have looked during that period of time.
