The fundamental difference between them is that the Israelis . . many of who are presented as arrogant and uncompromising . . . are rich, have western values and are capable (monetarily, not emotionally) of leaving that partially barren location previously know as Palestine . . . and the Arabs, who are poor, undereducated and under military occupation. They can not leave. Reminds me of the play, NO EXIT. People living in hell and are not aware of where they are.
It's a set up that's doomed.
The movie creates an unreal situation where the Defense Minister of Israel decides to purchase a house (and have fancy cocktail parties) next to a Palestinian widow's home. The home includes a grove of lemon tree left to her by her husband. The boobs on the Israeli side of course want to cut down the trees for "security " reasons. That's the start of the fun and games.
The movie leaves you with a sense of hopelessness for these people. Unfortunately, that is the real world. I left the movie screaming to myself, "If you had a brain in your head, you would get out of there".
