For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism (2009) D

Slow and boring. Felt depressed because that is what this blog is all about and I discovered my reviews may be worthless to everyone but me.

From Other Reviewers:  A long, slow slog thru interviews with people who are very impressed with themselves. It felt interminable. However, it's good for a kind of Criticism 101 to get a brief view of all of the important names in film criticism, and what they contributed.

Look . . . I never write reviews but I really had to be a "critic" about this. This film is pointless. Who cares about critics? Anyone can be a critic.

A breezy overview of American film criticism from Frank E. Woods and Vachel Lindsay to James Agee and the Pauline Kael/Andrew Sarris feud; it pretty much peters out there, but understandably: the web and DIY take over and we're left with Harry Knowles and a plethora of anonymous bloggers.
