THE KILLING (2011) (B-)

Inline image 2.
After slogging through Season 1 and 2 we finally find out who the culprits are.   The story could have been made into a 2 hour movie.  To make matters worse the series was contrived so that the solution to finding the bad guys all came in the last episode.  Very contrived. On the positive side It has great acting,  character development was limited but it had superb cinematography. Very disturbed cops.  Maybe they all have serious emotional problems

This is a dark movie/series . . . almost everyone is depressed. A take off of Film Noir.

I'm not going to stick around for Season 3.

FROM NETFLIX: This adaptation of a Danish-TV hit crime drama brings an addictive brand of whodunit from Scandinavia all the way to Seattle, where workaholic female homicide detective (Linden) is assigned to the murder of teenager. As evidence slowly turns up, the obsessed detective irrationally drifts further and further from a plan to retire to California with her fiancĂ©, while the grief felt by Rosie's parents and family is shown at heartbreaking length.

Entering the fray are an immature street-wise partner for Linden named Stephen Holder and a politician Darren Richmond whose mention of the case in his mayoral campaign proves to be just the beginning of the race's involvement in the investigation. The first season covers a two-week period in which rain is constant and red herring is the never-ending fish of the day, as suspects and evidence are presented with an ambiguous brilliance leaving viewers as puzzled as Linden and Holder.
