THE FOG OF WAR (2003) B+Documentary
This movie has less to do with the Fog Of War than with the inability of former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara to come to grips with the choices he made in his life. He was educated at Stanford and Harvard in Math, Philosophy, Logic and moral precepts. As a worker ant he was instrumental in developing the strategy for firebombing the Japanese in WW 2 and worked for both Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, playing a key role in shaping both administrations' approaches to the Vietnam War.
He claims he was against the escalation of the Vietnam War but all the public statements he made when he was in office, supported the war effort. He made public speeches indicating we were "winning", when he KNEW it was a lost cause. In my book, that makes him a LIAR. How can we believe anything he says. Another winner of the ANTI Profiles-In-Courage award with that great CCNY graduate Colin Powell.
When asked about this conflict between the moral McNamara and the amoral McNamara . . . he ducks all questions. Doesn't want to (or emotionally can't) deal with it. Very tearier eyed. Needs therapy badly.
