Classic Movie Review: MODERN TIMES (1936) C

This movie was put together by Charlie Chaplin.  It ain't so modern for today's times.  Very dated and does not hold up well.  Did not get through the entire picture. As usual, today's critics loved it.

This is a silent film, with a music background.  I could only guess that Chaplin, who was acting the part of the "Little Tramp", was trying to recapture an audience (in the time of talkies) that still would pay some money to see his old time (pre-talkie) movie.

Paulette Goddard was the female lead. I never knew she was so beautiful as a younger women.

Does deal with some of the depression issues of the 1930's.

Modern Times was deemed "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress in 1989, and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. Fourteen years later, it was screened "out of competition" at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival.[2]
