Wycliffe Stiffs
STICKBALL LEAGUE
A little history. The Wycliffe Stiffs was created by a group of members at Wycliffe, (led mainly by Mary Ross) who fell in love with the game of stickball in their early childhood . . . in the streets of the large cities in the Northeast. For those not familiar with the game, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stickball

I was one of the early players in the league, but other activities (and my lower than low batting average) forced me to drop out.
OPENING DAY FEELINGS:
I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of the very, very large group of Wycliffe members that came out for a wonderful opening day event. Terrific cupcakes (from Judy Carpenter's Bake Shop) and egg creams, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_cream), were served after opening ceremonies. One of the honored guests at the game was Steve Malvinni.
In general, Marty and Harry Klaff have done a masterful job of organizing an ongoing program that has enhanced the lifestyle here at Wycliffe. However, I have only one very minor problem with the overall program. To enhance the image of the league even further, I would have chosen a name better suited for this wonderful addition to Wycliffe activities. My choice would have been The Wycliffe Stickball Wonders.
I'm sure everyone that played in today's game (both winners and losers) had great fun and enjoyed getting together with their stickball friends and buddies.
