A very special movie about a world far apart from ours. It takes place on the steppes of Inner Mongolia. If the movie had no plot at all it would be worthwhile seeing because it brings you into a non-western country and with a culture and way of life far removed from ours . . . but the same in many ways.
The movie would have been rated AA+ if it had a more complete and satisfying ending.
Edited from Rotten Tomatoes: A peasant women named Tuya is a happily married mother of two children, whose husband Bater is permanently disabled. One day, after hard-working Tuya collapses in the fields while straining to perform her rigorous duties, the local doctor diagnoses her with a lumbar dislocation. Subsequently, unable to care for her invalid husband, Tuya and Bater agree to divorce so that the ailing woman can wed a husband capable of caring for both of them. The only man who seems willing to consider caring for both is divorced oil tycoon Baolier, who was smitten as a young schoolboy with Tuya.
I strongly recommend that you see it.
