Movie Review: FAST FIVE (2011) D- (for grownups), AA for 12 year old males

Although this movie didn't appear to fit the mold of something that a GROWN UP adult would watch, I recorded and watched it on my TV.  I was correct. This film was mainly produced for a particular group of adolescent males . . . or people with an adolescent male mentality. It is . . . what the movie industry calls an Action Film.

An Action film is a film genre in which one or more heroes are thrust into a series of challenges that typically include non-realistic and exaggerated physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence, and frantic chases. Action films tend to feature a resourceful person struggling against incredible odds, which include life-threatening situations, a villian, or a pursuit which generally concludes in victory for the hero.

Fast Five is one of a series of movies that is a franchise of action films owned and distributed by Universal Pictures, which center on illegal automobile racing, criminal activity, and various other "wild and crazy mayhem" portraying unsavory characters in unrealistic and exaggerated violent situations. The series is an obvious take-off of action video games played by the younger set.

The series was established with the 2001 film titled The Fast and Furious; followed by six sequels, two and two short films that tie into the series.  As of May 2015, it has become Universal's biggest franchise of all time. BIG MONEY MAKER!!!
