BROOKLYN (2015) A+

Very lovely story except that . . . as a friend of mine said . . . I wish that the film could have continued beyond the somewhat abrupt ending.

BROOKLYN tells the well acted and emotionally moving story of a young female Irish immigrant navigating her way through the 1930s in Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of a new way of life in America, (the luring part wasn't all that clear), she departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother's home for the shores of New York City. Her early feeling of homesickness quickly diminish as romance sweeps her into the arms of love with a somewhat too perfect very attractive young Italian man and his family. But soon, her new life is disrupted by her past, and she must choose between Ireland and America. Very nice idealistic movie.

Other Reviews:
• Brooklyn passes in front of the eyes, yanks hard on the heartstrings, sings a few lines of 'Danny Boy,' and then falls out of the mind an hour later.

• Brooklyn is a beautiful period drama and rich piece of romantic storytelling that boasts great performances.
