Movie Review: SPOTLIGHT (2015) AA

This is not a new story.  It involves the systemic molestation of children by the Catholic clergy.  This practice goes back hundreds of years and is only enhanced by the celibacy guidelines of the Vatican.

What is new in this fine movie is the telling of the story of the emotional difficulty Catholic reporters had in dealing with their internal conflict between their love and reverence for the church, and their job of reporting news in a truthful manner.  VERY POWERFUL ISSUE.  Very similar to the feelings of many Jewish people about Israel.  Many, or even most Jewish people take the position that no matter which Israeli government is in power they can do no wrong.  Liberal or Conservative.

From Promotional Material:
SPOTLIGHT tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world's oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper's tenacious "Spotlight" team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston's religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Tom McCarthy, SPOTLIGHT is a tense investigative dramatic-thriller, tracing the steps to one of the biggest cover-ups in modern times.
