This movie won six Israeli Oscars and says more about the Israeli movie making capability than the movie itself.
This film is a pathetic attempt to show the polarization in the Israeli society between the religious and the secular people. I assume this polarization is worse today than when the movie was produced in the year 2000. The screen play, which requires that the viewer is fully aware of the conflict between settlers and secular, is almost totally fragmented and not factual. For example, it shows a settlement with its own company of soldiers being out of control and being attacked by the regular Israeli Defence Forces. Bizarre!!
To me it appears to have been written as a first draft by 2nd year student in high school . . . a student that received a C in writing. The relationships between the people were weird. Closer to living in 1850 than the year 2000. I cannot believe Orthodox Jews act and think in the ways described in the film. I hope the depiction was wrong.
