Foreign, Chinese, subtitlesThis movie tries to provide a portrait of life under Chairman Mao, and how Chinese politics at that time affected personal lives. The film follows a Chinese family in the 1950's and 1960's, where people denounce each other and neighbors spy on one another.
Unfortunately, the story can't be followed easily. Not altogether clear, who is doing what to whom. May have been due to faulty editing.
