Movie Review: PHILOMENA (2013) AA

WILL BE ACCLAIMED AS BEST FOREIGN MOVIE OF THE YEAR. (It does not have subtitles because it was produced in England).  MUST SEE, especially by Catholics (because it is their heritage), and any person that can be viewed as a religious zealot.

This movie tells the same story as THE MAGDALAENE SISTERS http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/magdalene_sisters/reviews/, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalene_asylum,  which presents the ugly story of the abuse of women by the Catholic Church in Ireland.

From Rotten Tomatoes:  The move is based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, PHILOMENA, and  focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock - something her Irish-Catholic community didn't have the highest opinion of - and given away for adoption in the United States. In following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn't allow for any sort of inquiry into the son's whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life.
