LIKE FATHER LIKE SON (2014) C-

Japanese, subtitles

I have seen other Japanese movies that were produced in a professional manner.  i.e. THE DEPARTED.  THIS MOVIE WAS NOT MADE BY SKILLED PEOPLE.  It was SLOW and Slower.  Half the times we (Sandy and I ) couldn't even read the subtitles. (White on white).

But the story had potential. It was about a success-driven father who learns that the son he has raised for six years is not his own
(from a genetic standpoint), because of  a criminal act performed by a nurse who switched babies at the hospital where the child was born. (Not fully explained).  The families are then faced with the decision of raising their own biological sons or playing switch and raising the one that had their DNA.  Semi stupid premise.

Never bringing in trained psychologists, they fumble the ball.

As usual it got high rating from the critics and lay people who watched it  and was the recipient of the Jury Prize at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Warren Weinstein could get a prize for some home movie I took in 1963 using their criteria.

With more work and more money, this could have been a good movie.
